Nara Park- August 13, 2007
As a family, we made our first visit to Nara Park since moving to Nara in May. First we had a picnic lunch in the park and then stopped to see some of the deer who wander freely around the park. Then we made our way to Wakakusa Hill. We wanted to climb the hill and look at stars (we brought our binoculars and everything), but it was too cloudy to see much. We did, however, have a really nice night view of Nara and Ikoma City. We then headed back down to the park to see the laterns. The brochure said that there were 20,000 lanterns throughout the park. We then stopped for some shaved ice before following the crowd back to the train station. It was a lot of fun.

The mountain in the distance is Mt. Ikoma. We live near there.
